The week of March 19-24, 2007, proved to be an exciting, life-changing experience for our Women's Mission Team as we traveled to Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic. Our purpose was to visit Casa de Luz, a newly opened Christian home for "special needs" children, which is the ministry of ProjectChild. Not only did we get to be a love team of "Grandmas" to the children, but each day brought new experiences as we visited and ministered at a hospital, a widows group, and to hundreds of children at three different school centers, the highlight being "Windie" the clown (see photo).

While at Casa de Luz, we saw the need for an outdoor playground so the children can enjoy playing outside each day instead of inside all the time. Our "Grandma" team has committed to build the playground, and we are currently having fundraisers to buy "special needs" equipment. We are all looking forward to returning to Casa de Luz in the spring to make the playground a reality for the children.
