Dr. Paul and Linnet Gupta - Chennai (Madras), India

Dr. Paul "Bobby" Gupta serves as President of Hindustan Bible Institute (HBI). Bobby was born to a zealous missionary couple in India. He received his early education from HBI and finished up in the states from Piedmont Bible College, Talbot Seminary and received his Ph.D from Fuller Seminary in California. After being ordained as a pastor he returned to the ministries of HBI (which was founded by his father). In addition to the HBI ministries, he founded the Indian National Evangelical Fellowship for the purpose of recruiting missionaries to work in different parts of India. INEF currently has 520 missionaries who have planted 2,577 churches with a membership of over 116,000 Believers.

Bobby's primary concern is reaching the unreached peoples of India. To see his vision become a reality, he hosted the first Consultation on National Strategy to consider how the unreached peoples of India could be reached with the Gospel. This Council spearheaded a movement with the goal of planting a church in every village and every colony of every town and city in India.

Among many other involvements, he developed HBI International Ministries to facilitate sending missionaries to reach India and unreached Asians in countries of the Asian continent. He also started the Asian school of evangelism to develop leaders providing them with the skills of training and mobilizing others.

In addition to teaching at Hindustan Bible Institute in India, he lectures for the U.S. Centers for World Missions, for the Haggai Institute, conducted a seminar for the University for the Nations with Youth with a Mission, and has participated in several conferences and conventions including the Lausanne Conference and John Knox Fellowship, among others.

Linnet works beside her husband and is very active in the Ministries of Hindustan Bible Institute in India.  One of many responsibilities she handles is the coordination and supervision of the multiple short-term teams visiting every year.

Dr. Gupta's main thrust is

• Equipping transformational leaders for leadership and evangelism for the nation of India,

• Church planting through the equipping of a strategic team of national missionaries to reach the unreached, and

• Mobilizing the Church to a vision of discipling the nation through a strategy of saturation church planting.
