Paul and Nien-Chang Chang - China
Dr. Chang's father was a Presbyterian minister in North China. Following the Communist revolution, he was arrested, imprisoned, and died under Communist persecution. Paul's mother, brothers, and sisters are still in China. He escaped from the Communists as a young boy and was educated in Bethel Seminary in Hong Kong and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco. Paul served as assistant field director of Partners International in Hong Kong, ministering to fellow refugees and holding campaigns in schools and churches. Currently, he serves as Director of CNEC-Southeast Asia based in Singapore and oversees many developing field ministries in Malaysia, North Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and West Kalimantan (in Indonesia). He preaches regularly at churches in Singapore and overseas and conducts worship seminars for choirs and vocal training. CNEC (Partners Intl. in the US) has been actively serving as an effective bridge between national co-workers and partners, and conducts a wide range of ministries which include church-planting, pastoral training, and creative-access/holistic works in Christian orphanages, drug rehab centers, student centers, and schools. Nien-Chang serves in the Singapore office by translating letters and reports from the fields.
