McMillan, Steve & Melinda
Steve and Melinda McMillan - Kenya, West Africa
Steve is a missionary kid ... the fifth of six boys,
who grew up in Zaire, Africa. At age 11, he and his family went through
the 1964 Congo Rebellion. His father gave up his life at the hands of
rebels.
Steve and Melinda met in Zaire while she was working as a physical therapist. They were married and ministered together as members of an international team in Zaire.
In December, 1996, the McMillans were evacuated, along with about 200 other missionaries, from Eastern Zaire because of political unrest. They resettled in Kenya where Steve supervised the construction at one of the medical centers and Melinda did part time physical therapy at the hospital.
The McMillans have now been working in Kenya since that evacuation from Congo. Melinda hosts and manages a very busy household with many visiting medical families and occasionally is able to use her physical therapy skills to help those in need.
Steve oversees the technical needs of the hospital. In many ways, they have to be their own utility company to ensure good telephone, water, and electrical services, plus provide station security.
Steve and Melinda have ministered in Africa for 17 years.
