Les and Mary Anne Harris -Chad, Africa/USA
Les and Mary Anne Harris were raised in the Congo, where their parents were missionaries. Under the influence of such dedicated parents, both Les and Mary Anne came to know the Lord Jesus at an early age and learned missionary work first hand. Les graduated from Trinity College, and Mary Anne from Columbia Bible College and the University of Tennessee. After their marriage, and two years of teaching Bible in the public schools of Chattanooga, Tennessee and a year of French study in Switzerland, they went as missionaries to Central African Republic. Mary Anne is a third generation missionary and Les a second generation missionary. They served CAR churches through women's, children's and youth ministry, an they began a Bible school to train Zande pastors and their wives. After 20 years of work with the Zande people of Central Africa, they returned to the US and focused more on encouraging the pastors they'd trained and help provide them with Christian Education materials. They continue to seek to maintain contact with some 60 churches in CAR through letters, study materials, occasional tapes and visits. As both Donor Relations and Church Relations
Coordinator for their agency Stateside, Les travels nationwide
contacting those who help support the missionary endeavors in Africa.
Les also teaches in a Training Center for National Missionaries in Chad,
Africa for 2 1/2 months each year. Mary Anne teaches a children's Good
News Club in their home, a ladies' Bible study, and an Adult Bible
Fellowship at Northside. Now that her father, for whom she cared a
number of years, has gone home to be with the Lord, she is once again
accompany Les on his overseas travels and participates more in the
ministry. "Look unto Me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:22 To learn more about the countries in which they minister, where they are located, and additional information about the countries, click on the web sites below:
